Realtek, an IC design company and one of the ultra-broadband technology market players, announced that its RTU7300 ultra-wideband MAC chip and RTU7105 include ultra-wideband MAC and PHY single-chip certified by WiMedia platform. This certification demonstrates that the RTU7300 and RTU7105 are designed to be fully compliant with the WiMedia MAC specification and can be used in wireless personal area network related products, and support a variety of different communication protocols including wireless USB, next-generation high-speed Bluetooth, and UWB transmission of IP.

All devices designed to comply with the WiMedia MAC specification, including devices that support certified wireless USB and next-generation high-speed Bluetooth communication protocols, require WiMedia platform certification. Platform certification is the second and final step in the WiMedia certification process. The first step is the specification of the WiMedia entity layer. Raychem's RTU7010 and RTU7012 UWB physical layer chips have previously passed this certification.
